NEWS RELEASE

DOYLESTOWN, PA, September 30, 2019—Holiday House Pet Resort & Training Center and Doylestown Veterinary Hospital & Holistic Pet Care donated $1000 to the United States War Dogs Association (USWDA), a non-profit organization supporting U.S. military working dogs and handlers, headquartered in Burlington, NJ. The money was raised through generous donations from clients of the resort and veterinary hospital during an annual fundraising campaign held from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Pup-A-Palooza is the primary fundraising event. The theme this year was Pups of the Caribbean. For a donation, dog daycare clients received an official photo of their dog. The event also included a Caribbean Beach Party for clients that featured Michael Carsley performing on the steel drums, samplings of beers from Free Will Brewing in Perkasie, a raffle for pet resort services, and fun games and prizes.

“We’ve been raising funds for the U.S. War Dogs Association since 2013, and the level of participation and fun grows year after year. We are very fortunate to have staff and clients that share our commitment of support for this organization and other area non-profits that provide vital services to the community,” said Dr. Laura Weis who owns and operates the resort and Doylestown Veterinary Hospital with her husband, Dr. Randy Weis.

The donation supports the USWDA and its Rx Program which provides free prescriptions for enrolled retired military and working dogsThese retired dogs are usually adopted by a former handler or a military family. Often the dogs require expensive care and medications, so this program offers a true benefit to those families.

The USWDA is a group of former and current U.S. military dog handlers and supporting members, with chapters across the United States, committed to promoting the long history of the military service dogs, establishing permanent War Dog Memorials, providing programs that support care, and educating the public about the invaluable service of these canines to our country.
