DOYLESTOWN, PA, June 16, 2025—A Woman’s Place received a $2,500.00 donation from Holiday House Pet Resort & Training Center. The resort’s dog daycare program hosted its annual Dog Prom fundraiser to benefit the non-profit organization.
Clients who contributed to A Woman’s Place had their dog’s official prom portrait taken in handmade prom attire in front of a Tuscan-inspired backdrop, creating a snapshot memory while supporting a vital cause. Additional funds were raised through a themed raffle basket filled with free pet services and fun items for pets and their people.
A Woman’s Place (AWP) is a community resource for victims of domestic violence. AWP manages a confidential hotline, a full-service shelter for victims and their children, and counseling services and assistance. Services include court accompaniment and access to legal counsel provided by the shelter’s on-staff attorney. The non-profit organization provides free education and training programs to help communities respond to domestic violence, support survivors, and prevent future violence. Donations ensure these programs and services remain free for victims of domestic violence and their children.
“Donations like this allow A Woman’s Place to meet the needs of survivors at our safe house shelter which is essential to healing from the trauma of domestic violence. These funds fill financial gaps not met by our traditional funding streams,” said Shannon Ross, Director of Development with A Woman’s Place.
This year’s Prom transported the dogs “Under A Tuscan Sun,” where the spirit of Italy’s rolling vineyards, expansive lakes, and golden sunsets came alive. The daycare dogs enjoyed themed enrichment activities and play yard fun, adding a taste of la dolce vita to their day. As the event came to a close, pet parents enjoyed post-prom refreshments while hearing about their dog’s day. The event captured the joy of summer, the warmth of community, and the unconditional love we share with our pets.
“We are incredibly proud to support A Woman’s Place with this year’s daycare prom donation,” said Dr. Laura Weis, who owns Holiday House Pet Resort & Training Center and Doylestown Veterinary Hospital & Holistic Pet Care with her husband Dr. Ransome Weis. “Our clients continue to inspire us with their generosity. Thanks to their prom portrait pledges and raffle participation, we raised over $2,000 in client donations—our second-highest total since we began daycare fundraising events. A Woman’s Place provides vital support and safety for those experiencing domestic abuse, and we’re honored to support them in fostering a safe community for everyone.”
