DOG PROM RAISES $1500 FOR A WOMAN’S PLACE

DOYLESTOWN, PA, May 15, 2018—Holiday House Pet Resort & Training Center donated $1500 to A Woman’s Place, the only domestic violence organization in Bucks County. The money was raised through generous donations from clients and the resort during a special event.

The resort’s dog daycare program held its annual dog prom and after-prom party for the pet parents. For a donation to A Woman’s Place, daycare clients received an official prom photo of their dog.

“The partnership we have with Holiday House Pet Resort goes back a long way. What’s really important to us in finding local businesses to work with, is knowing they share our values and support our mission in the community. That’s definitely true of Holiday House Pet Resort, and on top of it, we absolutely love the cuteness and creativity of the pet prom! Such an amazing fundraising idea and we’re so grateful to get the support,” said Jesse Steele, Director of Development with AWP.

Resort staff and daycare students celebrated this year’s I Love the 80s theme with neon colors, big hair, and 80s fashions! The prom-going pups, dressed in a bow tie, tutu, or leg warmers and matching sunglasses, posed for the special photo against a brightly decorated backdrop. Decorations included giant Rubik’s cubes and cassette tapes labeled with albums popular throughout the 1980s. Pop music hits from Michael Jackson and Madonna to U2 played on the boom box.

“When our staff creates a special event for the dogs and clients that benefits the community, then the fun is a positive experience that extends beyond the resort. We are very fortunate to have so many generous clients that share our support for organizations that provide such vital services,” said Dr. Laura Weis who owns and operates the resort and Doylestown Veterinary Hospital with her husband, Dr. Randy Weis.

The Woof & Wine after-prom party for parents was a special opportunity for the resort to thank daycare clients. Parents sipped wine coolers and enjoyed a quick snack while waiting for their framed prom photo and a special dog treat during daycare pick-up hours.
