DOG DAYCARE EVENT REELS IN DONATION FOR WILDLIFE CENTER

DOYLESTOWN, PA, July 29, 2024—The pet resort’s annual Pup-A-Palooza event raised $1,500 to benefit The Wilderz at Pocono Wildlife. Pup-A-Palooza is a celebration of the ‘dog days’ of summer, and this year’s Gone Fishin’ theme highlighted a classic summer activity that strengthens the bonds of friendship and offers rewarding challenges. The fun vibe and special activities of this event highlighted the sense of camaraderie and accomplishment that dogs also share.

“Our organization covers over 13 counties in Pennsylvania. The cost of care for each mammal averages between $300 to $500 from intake until release. We provide vet care, medications, food, and housing for the recused animals. We rely solely on donations, and the money from this event will go towards food and medical supplies. Educating our communities on how to live safely and peacefully with Pennsylvania wildlife is also very importance to us,” said Susan Downing, Executive Director with The Wilderz at Pocono Wildlife.

In exchange for a donation to The Wilderz at Pocono Wildlife, daycare clients had an official event photo of their dog taken. The dogs enrolled in the Explorer daycare program participated in a fishing-themed enrichment activity for ‘big catch’ bragging rights. All of the dogs enjoyed playing on the fish pond splash pad and in the refreshing pools.

During the post-event reception, clients and guests to the resort donated to The Wilderz at Pocono Wildlife for the opportunity to guess the number of Mega Goldfish crackers in a fishbowl. The winner received a Holiday House Pet Resort gift basket filled with cards for free resort services and fun themed items for the pet and parent.

“Janine and Susan, along with their staff and volunteers at The Wilderz at Pocono Wildlife, are truly admirable figures in the field of wildlife rehabilitation. Their dedication to protecting and rehabilitating wild animal populations is both tireless and inspiring. Their work significantly impacts the environment and community, and they are re-defining the field of wildlife rehabilitation. The Wilderz exemplifies the kind of commitment and compassion that is crucial for the well-being of our wildlife,” commented Dr. Laura Weis, owner of Holiday House Pet Resort & Training Center.

Every dog can benefit from enrichment activities designed to stimulate the senses and focus their energy on useful skills. Special events, like Pup-A-Palooza, give the dogs a positive atmosphere for exploring new experiences that boost their confidence, comfort, and trust.
